Complete Wedding Day Timeline
What is the secret to a stress-free wedding day? Scheduling enough prep and buddle time!
GETTING READY
Bride’s Hair – 60 minutes
Bride’s Makeup – 45 to 60 minutes
Bridesmaids’ Hair – 30 minutes per bridesmaid
Bridesmaids’ Makeup – 45 minutes per bridesmaid
The order – When the makeup artist and hairstylist arrives, the bride should start with makeup, and the bridesmaids start with getting their hair done. The bride’s hair goes last, so when I arrive, I can catch some of those last-minute “getting ready” shots.
When should the photographer arrive? At least one hour prior to the bride is ready to go. This gives the photographer plenty of time to capture the details – gown, shoes, jewelry.
If you need to cut down on “getting ready” time, you could ask your stylist and makeup artist to both bring assistants.
If you’re traveling to a salon – double the anticipated travel time
Put on your veil – AFTER YOUR DRESS
Pre-ceremony photos – Three minutes per shot – Bride with her family, attendants, and Groom with his family and attendants
First Look – 15 to 30 minutes
CEREMONY
Groom and Groomsmen Arrive – 90 minutes before the ceremony
Bride and Bridesmaids Arrie – 60 minutes before the ceremony. If the bride is not taking photos at the church prior to the ceremony, then she can arrive moments before walking down the aisle.
Ceremony – 30 minutes
Receiving Line – 100 guests or less will take 12-15 minutes, 150 guests will take 20 minutes, more than 150 guests, you may want to skip the receiving line and just visit guests at their tables during dinner instead.
Maximum Gap between Ceremony and Reception – 60 minutes

Family Photos – 3 minutes per shot
Bridal Party – 3 minutes
