Standing in front of any camera can be intimidating. Here at Photos by Stephanie we want to show you having the best hair day, while worrying about if there is something in your teeth. Preparing for an engagement session is sometimes overwhelming. Here are some amazing tips for outfits, accessories, and props that will make your one-of-a-kind engagement session prepartion in a snap!
DON’T TRY TO MATCH
Instead of having your outfits be matchy-matchy, try picking out outfits and accessories that coordinate. If you have guys that love going to see the Rangers plan getting a couple of shots in matching clothing makes sense. However, don’t you think two people wearing the exactly the same for their entire session looks a bit boring?
DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE BOLD!
Accessories can really help show off your fabolous personality: scarves, bold necklaces, bracelets, and fun shoes are always welcomed!
MOST PATTERNS ARE ACTUALLY OF
Graphics are unfavorable for portraits, but a lot of reading will tell you to avoid patterns altogether, which is a complete mistake and it mutes your fabulous style. If you’re wearing a pattern, make sure it’s not overwhelming and distracting. All Marvel Superhero shirt in one? Not a great idea.
CHECK PINTEREST
Pinterest is a great place to look for ideas and create custom boards for each set of pins. Don’t forget to check out our Pinterest Boards for most outfit inspiration.
In reality, you consider your wedding photographer a close friend or promising acquaintance. However, liking our Facebook business page allows them to tag you in the photos as soon as they are share. This boosts the number of people who sees your beautiful images, and the feedback of your friends being exciting about your engagement is so encouraging!
EMPTY YOUR POCKETS!
Exactly. Especially for guys. You don’t want to have key chains, wallet, or phones showing through your pockets. Don’t be like my husband, during our engagements were he was wearing his carabiner; that was holding like twenty keys. Bring along a small bag you can put everything in.
TWO OUTFITS IS AWESOME
Most often, couples like to have one casual, like an everyday outfit and then one dressier outfit. This will give your session two entirely different “looks”. I recommend arriving in your elegant outfit because sunset photos towards the end of the shoot look a lot better in casual attire.
COMFORT IS IMPORTANT
Photos by Stephanie number one rule is to be comfortable in the clothes that you are wearing, because if you’ret it usually shows. Ladies, please reminder top that is super low cut, will limit the number of angles I can shoot from.
BE ON TIME!
Everyone has probably heard the famous quote by Eric Jerome Dickey — “early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable!” Please, reminder the timing of your engagement session is all planned around sunset. The later you arrive at your session, the less time we will have for your sessions.
CLEAN THE RING!
Cleaning your ring will restore your ring shire dramatically! While you change outfits, I will usually shoot a few ring shots. Most jewelry stores will do this gratis, or you can do it at home with some warm water and dishwasher soap.
RELAX!
You’re going to have a fantastic time, and I’ll help you along the way! You don’t have to be a pro at getting your picture taken. Enjoy your time practically alone with your soulmate and make a date out of it. Plan afterward with a dinner and celebrate, just the two of you.
