Happy Wedding Wednesday!
Photos by Stephanie is a Dallas Elopement and Wedding Photographer and will {Capture} Raw Emotion between Soulmates.

Congratulations! You are engaged! What exciting time, to be starting a new chapter in your life. Planning a wedding, especial your dream wedding, is both exciting and stressful. There are many benefits of booking engagement session once you make it official. Yes even before Facebook official! As a couple who likely have never been photographed professionally before, the engagement session is one of the most significant services you and your soulmate can benefit prior to your wedding. Some couples may feel it is a complete waste of time or isn’t very necessary. However, there are many benefits of utilizing this opportunity.
GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Once you have chosen your wedding photographer, set a day with them to get your engagement pictures taken. It is better to make them sooner rather than later, so you are not stressing out to get them done when you are in complete wedding planning mode. Establishing a relationship with your photographer before your wedding will make a difference in the outcome of your wedding images.
RECONNECT WITH THE PAST
Having your engagement photos taken at a location that has meaning to the two of you. This can be where you got engaged or where you had your first day, or it could be somewhere you both like to spend time or where you go to enjoy a shared interest. Locations to consider: hometowns, a movie theater, the college where you met, a favorite restaurant or bar, the zoo, the museum, or even your own home. Pick a significant spot, and your images will mean more to you than if your photographer took you to some random park and snapped a few photos.
PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS OF YOURSELVES
The advantage of seeing professional images before saying “I do!” to your soulmate, can let your engagement and wedding photographer know ahead of time if there are shots or angles you do not care for, and you can point out shots you do like too. Communication is key!!!
TIP: Have your Makeup and Hair trial run done on the same day as your engagement session.
This way, you get to see how your hair and makeup look in photos and can let your stylists know if there’s anything you would like to change. You will be more confident in yourself, and you have your photographer once you see your engagement images and get excited about them. When the time comes to tie the knot, you will have one less thing to stress about.
PRE WEDDING IMAGES
There are so many things you can do with your engagement images. They can be given as gifts to family, make an album, or order wall art to hang in your home. You can also send your engagement picture to your hometown newspaper to announce your marriage, which can sometimes be relevant to your parents and grandparents. The shots can also be used in your wedding program, save-the-dates or wedding website. If you decide to self-publish your beautiful engagement images, get permission from your photographer. (The image rights always belongs to the photographer, and you might have to compensate your photographer for usage.) Depending on how you intend to use the images, most photographers will let you publish as long as you just ask them first and give the photographer credit.
TIP: Cropping, adding filters, or edits not done by your photographer, could be in violation of your photography contract.
LET LOOSE AND GET CREATIVE
You have an opportunity to take some truly unique photos, different from any you’ve had before, so make good use of it! You can create a theme (bake some cookies together) or bring props. Whatever it is, think colorful, let loose and tap into your imagination.
