Happy Wedding Wednesday!
Photos by Stephanie is DFW Wedding & Boudoir Photographer and will {Capture} Raw Emotion between Soulmates.
Today we will be starting a new series all about wedding timelines. I understand how stressful planning not only your wedding but figuring out your actual wedding day timeline. After I married my husband, and realized the stress of wedding day timeline was, I decided to include this service when Soulmates hirer me to be their wedding photographer. I also email the detailed wedding day timeline to all your other vendors.
5 Tips for Wedding Scheduling
1. Always build a Time Buffer Between Locations
This is a big one! I always have clients build a 15-20 minutes buffer between each stage of their day. For example, if you’re getting ready at a hotel, and getting driven to the ceremony which is 5 minutes away. DO NOT ASSUME you will be ready on time and getting to the ceremony in five minutes. Always good idea to be ready 20 minutes early, so that account for the time to give final touches to everyone in your bridal party before leaving. Try to build buffers into each portion of the day, like the ceremony, portrait session, transportation, etc.
2. Receiving Lines take up that much time
Usually, after soulmates are officially married and its time to walk back down the isle. Some will wait at the end of the isle and greet all their guests as they pass. This is a receiving line that per 100 guests at the ceremony will take about 15-20 minutes to walk past.
3. Family Portraits can get Complicated!!!
As the photographer, I see family portraits as a very important part of your day. I always send my couples a questionnaire about family groupings that they want for family photos. Plus the family member who knows everyone. I print two copies, plus have digital on my phone for the day. Since I don’t know everyone by their face nor name, the go to family member is important to have.
4. Some Fancy New Trend or Doing it All up Front … It Works.
A current trend is to cut out the bouquet and garter toss from the line up during the reception. This helps with making it simple please sometimes less raunchy. Some couples want the DJ to do “Everything up Front”…
Couple gets introduced, goes into the first dance, then parent dances and speeches. Once the main entree is served hey go right into the cake cutting. This way everything is done.
5. Allow Time for Portraits!
Saved the Best and MOST Important, for Last. Also accounting for travel time to get to and from the portrait location, plus 15 minutes for bridal party to get in and out of cars and fix themselves up. Usually, schedule 90 minutes for bridal portraits. If your doing a first look, I can do bridal portraits in 45 minutes.
If you are a PBS (Photos by Stephanie) Soulmate, you don’t have to worry about any of this because we go over it all with a fine tooth comb 1.5 to 2 months before your big day.
