WEDDING PLANNING TIMING TIPS
There are so many different things about when you’re planning your beautiful wedding day. Today I’ve put together some great tips for your pre-ceremony timeline!
I realize that every wedding that I have photographed or attended is different and so not all of these tips may apply to every wedding day schedule. Something to consider is that it’s rare that EVERYTHING will go exactly as planned.
GIVE YOURSELF WIGGLE ROOM
When you start planning your wedding day timeline, the best advice I could give is to always ADD CUSHION TIME! Sometimes the most simple things can take an extra 20 minutes and suddenly, the morning is off schedule.
My own wedding, earlier this year, was running 25 minutes behind since my hairstylist was running very behind schedule. Luckily that only took time out of our first look and just like that we were back on schedule.
One of my beautiful bride from late last year, her wedding came to a complete halt because her dress ripped when her mother was zipping her up. Took almost three hours because of a zipper malfunction. It’s always a smart idea to add in an extra ten minutes here and there so that we have some wiggle room to work with! This way, if one part of your beautiful day gets thrown off by 30 minutes, I can help you compensate that time in other areas.
BOUQUETS & BOUTONNIERES
Get tip: Having your bouquet and boutonniere for your first look! Have someone bring them to your room where you are getting ready. Decide if you want to put it on your groom or someone else to do that. Make sure pinning the boutonniere is part of the grooms getting ready photos.
TRAVEL TIME
Don’t forget to include travel, traffic, and parking from your getting ready location and your venue.
HAIR & MAKEUP
If you want to save time, ideally makeup is finishing up about the time I start photographing all the detail shots at the beginning of the day. Most brides are most comfortable with photos after finishing up their makeup. I really do enjoy a few images of the makeup artist and the bride doing the finishing touches.
GROOMSMEN PREPARATION
If the guys and girls get ready in the same location or within 10-15 minutes we usually get more images because we spend less time in transit and the changes of confusion go down quite a bit.
CREATE A CUSHION
Build in a buffer of at least 10 minutes here and there to allow for any unplanned snags in the schedule. Time really flies on your wedding day!
I HOPE THIS HELPED YOU!
Once again, thank you so much for following my Bridal Guide.
